Environment Climate Data Sweden, ECDS, was an infrastructure project to improve Swedish researchers' access to environmental and climate data. ECDS was established by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) with the support of the Swedish Research Council (VR) in 2009. The Swedish National Data Service (SND) became responsible for the ECDS data portal in June 2016.

ECDS aimed to make it easier for researchers to share and access climate and environmental data, and provided support and advice in data issues to data centers, libraries and researchers. ECDS created a self-service database portal in which researchers could register metadata describing environmental or climate data, and even publish (deposit) data.

The ECDS database is being migrated to SND. You can still search for climate and environmental data here, but to publish data and metadata visit SND - Describe and deposit. When the migration is complete, search and download services will be provided through SND. All ecds.se urls and identifiers (eg. DOI) will, however, continue to links to the correct data sets when migration is complete.
