About

Environment Climate Data Sweden, ECDS, is an infrastructure project to improve Swedish researchers' access to environmental and climate data.

ECDS aims to make it easier for researchers to share and access climate and environmental data, and also provides support and advice in data issues to both data centers, libraries and researchers.

ECDS hosts a simple self-service database portal in which researchers can register metadata describing environmental or climate data, and even publish (deposit) data.

The Swedish National Data Service (SND) at the University of Gothenburg became responsible for the ECDS data portan in June 2016, prior to which the infrastructure was run by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI). ECDS was established with the support of the Swedish Research Council (VR) in 2009.

ECDS is a regular member of the International Council for Science's World Data Systems (ICSU-WDS).
