Swedish Research Council
The Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) is a government agency that provides funding for basic research of the highest scientific quality in all disciplinary domains. The agency is a key sponsor of the ECDS initiative and provides dedicated funding opportunities for the publication of scientifically relevant datasets.
Swedish Research Council Formas
Formas' mission is to promote and support basic research and need-driven research in the areas Environment, Agricultural Sciences, and Spatial Planning. The research that is funded should be of the highest scientific quality and relevance to the areas of responsibility of the Council. Formas may also fund development projects to a limited extent.
EU Horizon 2020
The EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation launches Horizon 2020 to be the programme for research and innovation to strengthen the EU's position in science, to strengthen industrial leadership in innovation, and to help address major concerns shared by all Europeans such as climate change, developing sustainable transport and mobility, making renewable energy more affordable, ensuring food safety and security, or coping with the challenge of an ageing population. Adoption of work programme, and publication of first calls for proposals are planned to December 2013.

SND is a service organisation for Swedish research within the humanities, social sciences and health sciences.
Geodata - Sweden bit by bit
Geodata.se is a Swedish portal for web based geodata and services, in line with requirements of the INSPIRE-directive.
The Swedish Species Information Centre (ArtDatabanken) works with biodiversity, serving as the focal point for information on threatened species and biodiversity in Sweden. Artdatabanken leads the Swedish activities in the European framework of Lifewatch.
The Swedish LifeWatch project is to establish a national e-infrastructure for integration and analysis of biodiversity data.
Swedish Forest Maps
Swedish Forest Maps is a service for the geospatial analysis of forest and its characteristics in a given area. The service is provided by SLU and addresses the needs of forest owners, timber buyers, biofuel investigators, researchers, and officials in environmental protection, nature conservation and forestry.
Open access at SMHI
SMHI has released data with open access. Data are now available without costs and restrictions for use. Some data are available to download, and other are available to order.
Climate data at SMHI
SMHI conducts measurements and observations in the air, in the lakes, in the water courses, and in the seas. Large amounts of data on Sweden's climate and environment are quality controlled and stored to form the basis for different summaries, analyses and services.
Stockholm Uppsalal Air Quality Management Association air quality data
Stockholm Uppsala Air Quality Management Association (Stockholms och Uppsala Luftvårdsförbund) coordinates regional air quality monitoring. In co-operation with SLB-analys/Environment administration in City of Stockholm, they publish air quality data at their web site (in Swedish).
Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) - Databases
Geological Survey of Sweden stores all information in databases. You can find data about e.g. soil depths, geochemistry, the content of various substances in the sea bed sediments, and variations in the gravity field.
Swedish EPA's service for open access
Swedish Environmental Protection Agency offers data with open access to increase availability and reuse of environment data. The site contains datasets and API from Swedish EPA. New data sources will be added continuously.
Swedish EPA's Environment Data Portal
The portal contains reports and maps with information on nature and the environment, e.g. environment monitoring, and results from inventories and geographical analyses. Only available in Swedish.
VINNOVA - Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems - hosts a national portal for open access to data from municipalities and authorities. The portal links to open data sources, to give companies, researchers, individuals and media new possibilities to create new or improved services with access to open data.
NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC)
US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA's) National Climatic Data Center, NCDC, is the world's largest active archive of weather data. NCDC produces numerous climate publications and responds to data requests from all over the world.
The GEO-portal provides access to a vast array of Earth observations, comprising both information, data and services.
The INSPIRE geoportal
Provide the means to search for spatial data sets and spatial data services, and subject to access restrictions, view and download spatial data sets from the EU Member States within the framework of the Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE) Directive.
GEO Data Portal - United Nations Environment Programme
The GEO Data Portal is the authoritative source for data sets used by UNEP and its partners in the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) report and other integrated environment assessments.
NERC Data Services
The UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) is committed to managing the increasing wealth of data and information used and collected by the scientists it funds. NERC Data Services provide access to a huge array of environment data.
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
The IPCC assesses the scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant for the understanding of the risk of human-induced climate change. IPCC is the authoritative voice in climate change science and provides a wealth of publications and data online.
European Environment Agency
The European Environment Agency (EEA) is the authoritative voice on the state and outlook of the Environment. The EEA provides a wealth of environmental information and knowledge in the form of reports and assessments, indicators, data and maps.
Under the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) the Working Group on Cloupled Modelling (WGCM) established the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) as a standard experimental protocol for studying the output of coupled atmosphere-ocean general circulation models (AOGCMs).
OBIS - Ocean Biogeographic Information System
OBIS allows users to search marine species datasets from all of the world's oceans. OBIS is part of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO, under its International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) programme.
ACTRIS Data Centre
The ACTRIS data centre web portal allows you to search and analyse atmospheric composition data from a multitude of data archives through a single user interface, with access to secondary data products and project data tools.
EBAS is a database hosting observation data of atmospheric chemical composition and physical properties. EBAS hosts data submitted by data originators in support of a number of national and international programs ranging from monitoring activities to research projects.
WebDab - EMEP Database
The European Monitoring and Evaluation Programme (EMEP) Centre on Emission Inventories and Projections (CEIP) maintains and further develops emission databases and provides support to stakeholders, modellers, and the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) secretariat. WebDab is the emission database of EMEP (Co-operative programme for monitoring and evaluation of long-range transmissions of air pollutants in Europe), open to public for interactive use via Internet.
Meteorological Synthesizing Centre-East (MSC-E)
Within the Co-operative programme for monitoring and evaluation of the long-range transmissions of air pollutants in Europe, the Meteorological Synthesizing Centre-East (msc-e) publishes updated modelling results on HM and POP pollution levels within the EMEP region.
Meteorological Synthesizing Centre-West (MSC-W)
Hosted by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, MSC-W models transboundary fluxes of acidifying and eutrophying air pollution, photochemical oxidants and particulate matter. Find model results to download, as well as tools for analyses of model results.
AirBase - the European Air Quality Database
AirBase is the public air quality database system of the European Environment Agency (EEA). It contains air quality monitoring data and information submitted by the participating countries throughout Europe.
EUMETSAT Earth Observation Portal (EOP)
The Earth Observation Portal (EOP) by the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) contains near real-time and historical Meteosat, Metop, and Jason-2 data and products, as well as third-party data and products delivered via EUMETCast.
Obs4MIPs - Observations for Climate Model Intercomparisons
A wide variety of observationally-based datasets are used for climate model evaluation. Obs4MIPs refers to a limited collection of well-established and documented datasets that have been organized according to the CMIP5 model output requirements and made available to the research community in the same way CMIP5 is accessed. Products available via Obs4MIPs are 1. Directly comparable to a model output field defined as part of CMIP5; 2. Open to contributions from all data producers that meet the Obs4MIPs requirement; 3. Well documented, with traceability to track product version changes; 4. Served through ESGF.
Quantarctica is a collection of Antarctic geographical datasets which works with the free, open-source software QGIS. It currently includes geography, glaciology and geophysics data, and will expand with contributions from the research community. Quantarctica was originally developed for in-house use at the Norwegian Polar Institute, the first public version was released in 2013.
Biodiversity Data Journal
Biodiversity Data Journal (BDJ) is a community peer-reviewed, open-access, comprehensive online platform, designed to accelerate publishing, dissemination and sharing of biodiversity-related data of any kind. All structural elements of the articles - text, morphological descriptions, occurrences, data tables, etc. - will be treated and stored as DATA, in accordance with the Data Publishing Policies and Guidelines of Pensoft Publishers.
CODATA's Data Science Journal
The Data Science Journal is a Journal of the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA) of the International Council for Science (ICSU). The Data Science Journal is a peer-reviewed, open access, electronic journal publishing papers on the management of data and databases in Science and Technology. The scope of the Journal includes descriptions of data systems, their publication on the internet, applications and legal issues. All of the Sciences are covered, including the Physical Sciences, Engineering, the Geosciences and the Biosciences, along with Agricultural and the Medical Sciences.

Dataset Papers in Science is a peer reviewed, open access journal that is designed to provide fast peer review process for all submitted dataset papers. The journal is collaboratively run by a relatively large, international Editorial Board of experts in all subject areas of the journal.
Earth System Science Data
Earth System Science Data (ESSD) is an international, interdisciplinary journal for the publication of articles on original research data(sets), furthering the reuse of high (reference) quality data of benefit to Earth System Sciences. The editors encourage submissions on original data or data collections which are of sufficient quality and potential impact to contribute to these aims.
F1000 Research's goal is to improve the way research findings are communicated. Their approach to open science publishing means: no publication delay, all data included, post-publication peer review, open refereeing and full open access. Among other types of articles they have Data Articles. In a Data Article a dataset (or set of datasets) together with the associated methods/protocol used to create the data. No analysis of the data, results or conclusions should be included.
Geoscience Data Journal
Geoscience Data Journal provides an Open Access platform where scientific data can be formally published, in a way that includes scientific peer-review. Thus the dataset creator attains full credit for their efforts, while also improving the scientific record, providing version control for the community and allowing major datasets to be fully described, cited and discovered.
GigaScience aims to revolutionize data dissemination, organization, understanding, and use. An online open-access open-data journal, they publish 'big-data' studies from the entire spectrum of life and biomedical sciences.
Journal of Chemical and Engineering Data
The Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data is a monthly journal devoted to the publication of experimental data and the evaluation and prediction of property values. It is the only American Chemical Society journal primarily concerned with articles containing experimental data on the physical, thermodynamic, and transport properties of well-defined materials including complex mixtures of known compositions and systems of environmental and biochemical interest.
Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data
Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data is the authoritative resource for critically evaluated reference data for physical science and engineering disciplines. The journal publishes papers which report the best available measurements for the relevant properties.
